Another specialist area of Bowie collecting is newspaper stand posters. You know the things.

The beauty of collecting such pieces of memorabilia is that if you have a friendly local newspaper seller, you can get them for free!

As you will have noticed, they are also used for magazines outside newsagents. There are many Sunday magazine posters for Bowie features that have been printed over the years.

Some unscrupulous sellers of this Evening Standard example have fooled some into thinking it is an original from the 60s. But as you’ve all no doubt understood, why would there be a feature about an unknown that warranted such attention?

Of course, this was a poster simply advertising a serialisation of a book in the Evening Standard. The only ‘unknown’ thing about it is that we can’t remember the book or the year, though we have a hunch it was 80s at the earliest.
