DAILY BOWIE THING – Day 29

“And you'll believe you're loving the alien...”

For #BowieSheetMusicSunday we’re focusing on Loving The Alien, released to accompany the 1985 release of the third and final single from the Tonight album.

Loving The Alien was the opening track on 1984’s chart-topping Tonight and one of just two tracks on it written solely by Bowie, the other being the first single, Blue Jean.

The sheet music was no doubt made available following the success of the previous singles and the LP itself, which attained gold status in the UK and Platinum in the US. The album was released as a complete music book in its own right too.

Though fond of the song, Bowie later said that the production undid the power of the lyric and that he preferred the demo version.
