I ran to the street looking for information...”  Ten years before the rather posh Japanese flyer from 1982 was produced (the one we posted for DAILY BOWIE THING – Day 11), things were a little more homemade for some of the dates on the first American Bowie tour, at least the double-sided one on the right of our montage for the shows at Winterland Auditorium on 27th/28th of October 1972 was.  The one on the left was designed by renowned poster artist, Randy Tuten, who became promoter Bill Graham’s in-house artist for a decade from 1969. Designer Rex Ray would hold a similar position later, but that's another story.  Randy's artwork for the Bowie Winterland shows was produced as a flyer (pictured here) and, aside from the size, an identical poster. The flyer on the right was also made on yellow paper along with the white one we've used.   They all used @therealmickrock’s iconic Bowie in Zowie’s Beckenham bedroom shot, as first featured on the back of the 1972 RCA reissue of the 1969 Mercury/Philips album. Indeed, it looks like a photocopy of that very sleeve was used for Randy's artwork, as the text area from the sleeve has been blanked out.
