The anabas company pretty well cornered the market with this type of merchandise, perhaps presenting too many choices for the pocket money-challenged teenager. Three variations of each image were produced as a badge, pendant and keyring and if that wasn’t enough, the completist also had a choice of different coloured plastics in some cases too. Other companies dipped a toe, such as DASdecor who manufactured the GIANT T.V. Popstar Badge (top right), these also came in different shapes. Not an easy place to start a collection as it’s rare to find examples in original packaging these days, particularly at a sensible price. But, if you’re after a tasty badge or pendant out of its packet to show off at the disco, these do show up on popular auction pages from time to time.
