In most cases the pieces of clothing would be autographed and donated to charity, or auctioned with the proceeds going to charity. Back at the start of the century a fair number of shirts, trousers, jackets and other interesting things were auctioned via BowieNet on eBay. Often the pieces would be recognisable as clothing David had worn for photo shoots or publicly, such as today's example. Listed as an "ensign shirt", there are several pictures of Bowie wearing it in 1987, generally photographed by our old friend, Denis O’Regan, as was today’s picture. Were you lucky enough to have purchased one of these lots back then? Do you still have it? Items still turn up occasionally when the original purchaser is having to let go for one reason or another.
