This person may, however, enjoy Bowie’s work as an actor and have set themselves the impossible task of collecting everything produced in association with the myriad movies our man has appeared in over the years.   The spin-offs associated with a film’s release would be too long to list here, suffice to say, lobby cards are a gentle way in for the novice collector and a rewarding one at that. Lobby cards are a set of cards with stills from a film which are displayed in the lobby or foyer of a cinema.   Normally around A4 in size, the cards are usually printed on card, though some countries, Germany among them, used thinner glossy paper. Lobby cards were usually sent to cinemas or handed out at press conferences in envelopes containing press kits and posters.   Today’s #DailyBowieThing is a glimpse of just 3 of the 24 cards that were issued for the French release of The Man Who Fell To Earth (TMWFTE) in which David played T J Newton, an alien who had come to Earth in a bid to find a way of saving those dying back on his home planet. Adapted from the Walter Tevis novel of the same name, TMWFTE was directed by Nicolas Roeg, filmed in 1975 and released in 1976.   Even if you only concentrated on memorabilia from this film, it’s unlikely that your collection would ever be complete. But lobby cards are great thing to concentrate on if you find them appealing.   Things to bear in mind are how many cards were originally in the set and are the cards genuine or copies? Some of this knowledge can only be gained through experience. At least five countries around the globe (probably more) produced lobby card sets for TMWFTE, though this French set of 24 contains the most, there were just 8 in the UK set.   For some of us, every area of Bowie’s career is fascinating and if we happen to be completists, only madness lies ahead.   Drop in tomorrow for our next #DailyBowieThing   #DailyBowieThing  #BowieTMWFTE  #BowieLobbyCard」11月11日 2時01分 - davidbowie

DAILY BOWIE THING – Day 10

“It will tumble from the sky, And it's been there all along...”
