This tree of life stands almost three feet tall and is one of the most intricate and beautiful examples of Mexican Folk art I have ever seen. I worked with my colleagues and other institutions to collect this piece from a lovely woman, Janice Hatfield, who brought the gorgeous and delicate piece with her when she moved from her home in Guadalajara, Mexico to San Francisco, California. Currently on display in the American Stories exhibit at the National Museum of American History, it is a treasure that celebrates life and Mexican culture.
