This painting of the Cotopaxi volcano, by Fredrick Church, reminds me of home. My parents came from Ecuador and whenever I visit my family, I always look out over the houses to see a glimpse of the Cotopaxi volcano set against the blue sky. Those visits fill me with awe and wonder. I always try to sneak a glimpse of the painting when I visit the Smithsonian @americanart Museum, where it’s on display, just to get that same feeling.
