Each year when winter melts away into spring, the area along the Aono River in the town of Minamiizu bursts into bloom with Kawazu Cherry Blossoms, or ‘Kawazu-zakura,’ and Rapeseed Blossoms (brassica rapa, or ‘nanohana’). These particular cherry blossoms are known as some of the earliest-blooming in the Tokyo area. The lane of pastel ‘Kawazu-zakura’ is complemented by the bright yellow of the ‘nanohana.’ Walking through the dreamy scenery, it’s impossible not to feel buoyed by the rejuvenating power of springtime.
