The Equatorial spitting cobra is not generally aggressive, but if it feels cornered, it can accurately launch venom several feet directly into the eyes of whatever it feels threatened by, causing temporary or permanent blindness. No warning is given either, as it can shoot the venom without moving its head or body. However, as long as the snake is given plenty of room to move, it is not likely to attack a person - the snake would rather conserve its energy (and venom) for hunting prey like small mammals, frogs, lizards, and other snakes.
