This is a complicated issue to discuss because it can go different ways but for me I just never saw myself as “pretty”. Some people don’t think others find them attractive I just flat out didn’t believe I was. When someone said “your so pretty” I would say no I’m not, or if someone said “your losing weight” I would do no I’m still fat. I always feel fat no matter what my weight is you would be surprised at how many people struggle with body image. _ Oddly I handle insults about my personal appearance much better than compliments. Flat out compliments make me uncomfortable because I don’t know how to react to them. When I should just say thank you I argue it. Even now I have to tell myself “just say thank you” _ As I child I was never told “your pretty, your smart” and I never felt accepted. I didn’t know why my parents didn’t hug me or say “I love you” but it did affect me more than I cared to realize. I grew up doing things to overcompensate for the lack of. I got a boob job at 18 and then at 21 got bigger boobs, I wore less, showing more and I found that all those things made me feel worse about myself. I was trying to fix the outside but the inside was broken. _ About 8 years ago I really started to work on myself and I understood the feeling of being pretty comes from within. It has nothing to do with the outside it’s not determined by others opinions or the number on the scale. Pretty is about being happy and spreading it around to others. How you make other people feel says a lot about you. To me “Beautiful” is a mindset not a physical thing. If you believe you are pretty there is a power in that.
