It’s like I died with him…

When I lost my husband at 37, I lost myself with him.

I had no idea how I would survive the loss, the grief, the shock, the trauma—then, eventually I learned that the only way I could survive it was to allow it to change me. Thoroughly and completely. Because the old Mae needed him. The old Mae intended to spend the rest of her life with him.

And so, slowly… in the years beyond, a door has opened.

A door to get to know myself, beyond who I ever thought I was going to be.
