The March of Dimes traces its roots to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Roosevelt was diagnosed with polio in 1921. Birthday Balls were thrown on the President’s birthday across the country to raise money for polio patients. The balls paved the way for a national organization: the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, which later changed its name to the March of Dimes. The organization helped support Dr. Jonas Salk’s research into a vaccine, large-scale trials, and more. Click the link in our bio to learn more.
