Chances are you saw this image, or a parody of it, sometime this Thanksgiving week.
Artist Norman Rockwell created this (now iconic) image to illustrate President Franklin D. Roosevelt's "Four Freedoms" speech. In this January 1941 message to Congress, Roosevelt stated “We look forward to a world founded upon four essential human freedoms:” freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want, and freedom from fear.
Rockwell created paintings which depicted all four. The series of paintings appeared as covers for the Saturday Evening Post and as posters produced by the Office of War Information for its war bond campaign in 1943.
