Did you know the pygmy marmoset (Cebuella pygmaea) is the smallest monkey in the world? On average, the tiny critter only weighs around 100 grams and grows up to 16 centimeters, not including its lengthy tail. It’s native to the Amazon rainforest, preferring to live among dense vegetation high in the tree canopy, where it can hide from predators like birds of prey and snakes. One of its favorite things to snack on is tree sap: it uses its teeth to scrape a tree’s surface, creating a hole from which sap bleeds for a marmoset feast.
