What a grand day out (technically rolling in to 2 days) on the Walker Spur, North Face of the Grandes Jorasses, 1200m, with @jonny__baker and @uisdeanhawthorn yesterday. -
Stress, doubt, getting lost, knowing you’re where you’re supposed to be but also wishing it was over immediately, telling yourself you’ll never do something like it again but knowing you will, being blasé with risk, sometimes the views make you feel like it’s all worth it, dreaming of a warm bed, promising yourself you’ll always appreciate sport climbing, wishing that it was illegal to call chossy 5c a ‘classic’ no matter how beautiful the face no matter the history, wishing you didn’t have contradicting topos, wanting water and sleep more than you thought possible.... then accepting all of it, revelling in how lucky you are... only to jab yourself with your axe for the 10th time and hate it all again. An endurance challenge and psychological whirlpool, I’m not sure I’d call it a hobby but it’s definitely interesting... -
