Mixed feelings about this ascent so far and it might take being on the ground to put them in order. Moments of jubilation but also a general lack of motivation which has made it hard to be all-in. I have a few theories for why I haven’t been super motivated on this climb that I’m still figuring out, but in general I would say that there are two main reasons: one is that this year has been the hardest ever and my capacity for digging deep isn’t my normal. The other is that I think I’m past caring about ticking things unless the completion of the goal really means a lot to me and/or I’m really enjoying it, and I guess this route just didn’t meet that standard. I’ve definitely tried hard at times, sending the crux pitch and onsighting some mean 5.12 but it’s clear to me that if it wasn’t for Angus I probably wouldn’t have made it this far! Right now I’m trying to have the best time I can.
