I sent 4 of the hardest pitches but failed to free the 2 final hard pitches. Overall the experience was extremely positive for me even though I failed to send. Judging from the comments and DMs I feel like some people interpreted the sentiment of my previous post more negatively than I intended. I’m trying hard with my Instagram to share the deeper layers of my experience and some aspects of my psychology that I haven’t worked out yet. With this comes the risk of being misunderstood and I often find that people want to stay in the realms of black-and-white thinking along the lines of ‘she’s winning’ or ‘she’s losing’. I failed, struggled to dig deep on the hard pitches AND I had an amazing experience that I’ll treasure forever with my partner, and I’m still learning a lot about myself through climbing. All these things can be true at the same time. For me that’s what it’s all about: having memorable positive experiences (albeit hard and challenging at times) and learning. The sends (although nice) are secondary and El Niño certainly ticked those 2 important boxes. I’ll write more about this in coming posts but thanks for bearing with me while I think out loud here 😊 Thanks @angus.kille for the great time, @_drew_smith_ and @blackdiamond for the epic photos. It’s so important to have people around you that support and celebrate you when you achieve, and also when you don’t. And well done to @amity.warme , Brent Barghahn and Angus for sending this week! Strong work guys, it’s no easy route especially with the final wet pitch!」11月15日 11時50分 - hazel_findlay
