The concept translated in english below, I’ve been sharing about this only in japanese so I am grateful to share with you what I’m trying right now ❤️ Thank you @taku_santiago_sato for translating and @ikaspart for witnessing and taking amazing photos! 🪞🗝🪞🗝🪞🗝🪞 This work, which consists of a mirror box and two photographs, is based on the theme of "portraits isolated from the external world and in dialogue with oneself". Normally, this mirror box is locked, and opens at night with the gallery lights turned off for the visitors to experience. Every side of the inside is mirrored, and voices are reflected by a sound system. Thus, the inside of the box is shielded from the outside world, so that "only one's image can be seen and one's voice can be heard", while from the outside the individual inside can be seen in full. As a musician, Kom_i usually performs by being aware of the viewer/audiences eyes. However, in this work, she experiments by exposing herself to the eyes of others in a situation where she is unaware of the outer environment. This is not a mere retreat into the world of the self, but an attempt to explore a new relationship with the audience or others through the experience of diving into the self. The two photographs of this installation, were taken in the open air with the actual mirror box, in a situation where Kom_i was unaware of when she was being photographed. *This work can be viewed and experienced under dimmed lighting during the following hours.
