Weatherford’s “Train Yard” paintings evoke both a celestial night sky and a nocturnal view of a train yard. In “No. 4000”—named for one of the largest steam locomotives ever built—she depicts the weighty machinery of the train and switching yard, massive pieces of iron and steel in motion.
