Found in the tropical and subtropical forests of the western and northern Amazon Basin is the brilliantly colored paradise tanager. ​Both males and females of this species exhibit the same beautiful coloration, with a blue breast, bright green hood, and red-yellow rump. ​While these stunning songbirds are experiencing population declines in the wild, they are still quite common throughout their range and are evaluated as least concern on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
