I don’t want you to get stressed out when you’re spending time with friends and eating amazing food, this should be something you ENJOY! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I love going out for dinner with family. To keep it healthy, this is what I do:⁣⁣ ⁣ ✅ I’ll often order an extra serve of salad or vegetables. Most places will serve your meals with a small side salad or vegetables but by ordering an extra serve, you can make sure you’re getting enough. ⁣⁣ ✅ Drink water. I’m not telling you to sit at a restaurant and drink bland room temperature water, that’s boring. I always order water with ice, mint and lime, so I still get a taste that I enjoy drinking but I’m staying hydrated and avoiding soft drinks. You could also order soda water if you like the fizz. Soft drinks are usually full of sugar and can ruin your appetite so you won’t enjoy your food as much!!⁣⁣ ✅ Choose grilled meat or steamed fish. It’s a great way to avoid unhealthy trans fats which are often found in fried foods, plus it keeps the meal healthier and more fresh tasting!⁣⁣ ✅ If there’s a delicious pasta dish, or something that you really want, see if anyone at the table wants to share with you. My sister and I will usually share a bowl of pasta and then get a healthy meat or fish dish with lots of veggies. I always want to try everything so this works so well for us. If you’re out with a big group of people, try and sit near someone who you know will want to order similar things as you and you can share!⁣⁣ ✅ Order dressing or sauces on the side. I steer away from heavy, creamy dressings as I don’t enjoy them, so I ask for dressings and sauces on the side. So many dishes in restaurants are actually so healthy and full of flavour and then so much dressing goes on and the meal is ruined!! I always like to stick to my olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper dressing haha.
