Photo by @acacia.johnson | Inuit elder Kigutikarjuk Shappa gazes through the window of her mother's traditional hut in Arctic Bay, Nunavut, on the north of Canada's Baffin Island. The Inuit people lived a seminomadic lifestyle here for thousands of years until their forced settlement in communities in the last half century. Many elders like Shappa, who have experienced this transition within their lifetimes, are dedicated to passing on their traditional knowledge and values to the younger generations growing up in towns.
