Painted in 1894, Camille Pissarro’s ‘Le Grand noyer ya printemps, Éragny’ is a wonderfully rich and atmospheric depiction of a large nut tree near the artist’s house in Éragny, France. The artist and his family moved to the town in the spring of 1884, and Pissarro was delighted by the tranquility and endless inspiration of his new environment. In particular, the nut tree is depicted by Pissarro in all four seasons and it’s growth can be traced throughout the artist’s years in the small village.
