I’m small, petite, you could say. My thighs are not long and lean. A guy once told that my thighs reminded him of elephant trunks, someone else told me tree stumps, either way, I’ve always been self-conscious about my legs and my size. Short and soft around the edges rather than long with angular elegance. But, here’s the truth—no matter what size or shape you are, we all have some places of insecurity about our bodies. Whether it’s your legs, your jaw, your skin, size, belly, age or ankles, there will always be something you can look in the mirror and pick apart for not meeting some ridiculous standard of external perfection set by our current cultural norms. You can focus on that, and truly, the whole diet and beauty industry profits off of your obsession with your perceived faults. Or, you can do something else—you can choose to celebrate the wholeness of who you are, complete with all your imperfections, in exactly the size and shape and age you are right now. There will always be someone younger or older that you are. There will always be someone stronger and more flexible. But you are unique and valuable beyond any measure of physical form. Remember that the next time you stand in front of the mirror and that snarky old voice comes back. Look yourself in the eyes and say, “You, you’re beautiful, and I love you.” _ Day 19 #30dayyogajourney is Upward Facing Dog with @katfowler on @omstarsofficial You can still join!!
