What you think matters, not just to the goals you set in life, but to the world. The type of thoughts that make the biggest impact are unconscious subliminal beliefs that have been programmed into the deepest layers of the mind. These beliefs often take root as preverbal biases that color your view on life. The only way you will ever change these deeply held assumptions is by bringing them out into the cold, harsh reality of daylight. The reason why these unconscious thoughts are so powerful and important to look at, deconstruct and bring into consciousness is because they lay the foundation for the operational system of the mind. If left unattended they will run on autopilot and gather inertia and “proof” for their validity. Soon, these thoughts will appear as evident truths, when in fact they are often systemic beliefs passed down from generation to generation bearing the scars and wounds of the past. We think we are free, but in reality we are in chains. We think we determine our future, but really we are caught in a web of hurt. We think we see the “truth” but we see through thick, broken glasses that only show us a small piece of the puzzle. There is a way out of this muddled mess of the mind. It’s the foundation of every spiritual tradition aimed at liberation. You have to do the work. It begins with yourself and then expands outward to include the whole world. You start deconstructing the thoughts you think about yourself, your body, your culture and then you begin to question the whole system of thoughts that manifest in society. There is no pass, no shortcut, no easy way around. It’s hard work to untie the fabric of the mind and soul. Freedom, true ultimate spiritual liberation, is not something that happens with the snap of a finger. If you are a seeker you have to be desperate to find the way out of the maze of misery.
