There are several bird species associated with the holiday season, but no other bird invokes the spirit of Christmas and the winter season quite like the European robin. Centuries ago, postal employees used to sport red jackets which led to them often being referred to as robins--the color closely resembled the robin’s red breast. Soon after, robins began appearing on Christmas cards – the scene depicted? A robin was pictured carrying an envelope or postcard in its bill, delivering it like a postman, of course. This photo was taken thanks to the support of @greenteenteam at Centro Fauna Selvatica “Il Pettirosso”.
