Meet Sissy, Bomani, and RJ, endangered African wild dogs @theomahazoo. They were the first human-reared puppies of this species to be introduced back into a thriving adult pack! This species is highly social and work as a pack in everything they do from hunting to pup rearing. This species requires large home ranges to survive and recent habitat fragmentation has caused population declines. They have a reputation for attacking livestock, and despite this rarely occurring, they are often hunted and killed by humans. Another threat they face is susceptibility to disease; particularly those carried by domestic dogs such as canine distemper and rabies. #nationaldogday
