This spotted beauty is a marine betta, also known as a comet. They possess a false eye which is actually the rear fin, which confuses predators. When alarmed, this fish will poke it's head into a hole and expose just their tail, making them look like an eel! This species is full of amazing physical features-- they secrete a type of mucus, or slime, from their skin, providing protection against parasites and infections and helps them move faster through the water. This species is nocturnal, hiding under ledges and holes during the day. Interestingly, males of this species have the job of guarding the eggs. To see a photo of this betta visit @natgeowild.
