Born in Sydney in 1886, she made her mark as a peerless long-distance swimmer, defying convention by wearing a skirtless men’s racing swimsuit.

She made a splash in vaudeville and was the first Australian woman to star in American movies. Kellerman's ‘ideal’ physique personified a new aesthetic of natural female beauty.
