Happy Earth Day everyone! Out of all my experiences and travels aboard, I can not think of one better than my journey to the heart of Africa to trek with the mountain gorillas. These beautiful and intelligent animals are confined to two small national parks between Uganda, Rwanda, and the DRC where they cling to the last remaining remnants of a once large and lush rainforest. A few decades ago, there were only about 300 mountain gorillas left in the wild, but thanks to conservationists and Dian Fossey, they now number around 800. This little guy was only a couple months old and loved looking at our group as he sat on his mother's belly. Absolutely the most eye opening and life changing experience I have ever had. #gorillas #africa #wildlife #mountaingorillas #animals #earthday
