Today was a pretty emotional and memorable day, to say the least. As some of you might remember from yesterday, I spent the whole afternoon with 4 grizzly bears. I went back to the same spot at the crack of dawn this morning in search of the bears, but had no luck. I decided to drive around the area more to see if I could find anything else or if the bears had moved. I went down a secluded road where I found about 10 other people parked on the side of the road looking at some wolf tracks. As we looked at the tracks, we started to hear a loud wolf howl from over the hill. The wolves continued to howl and within the next five minutes, everyone left to see if they could see them or if the bears had emerged. I stayed and continued to listen, which became one of the best decisions I ever made. For 10 minutes, I was surrounded by howling wolves and on this cold 20 degree morning, it sent more shivers down my spine than normal. That's when it happened. As I stood on the road listening to the wind, two wolves ran out of the trees only 40 feet away. One was a jet black male and the other was this white female whose face was drenched in red blood. There I was, alone with two wolves on foot. When they looked my way as they ran towards the woods, I realized how special a gift from nature this was. They vanished into the trees to join the rest of the six membered wolf pack where they stayed secluded and hidden in the trees. It was a one minute encounter I will absolutely never forget and I will always get to say I looked into a wolf's eye and it looked right back at me. #jacksonhole #grandtetons #wolves #wolf #yellowstone #wyoming
