I’m still coming down from being on stage with him. Having been obsessed with his films since my early teens, I can’t tell you what it meant for him to ask me to moderate this talk. It was truly nerve-racking trying to cover his illustrious life and career in 90 minutes in front of 2,500 people, but it helps that Marty is one of the most eloquent and engaging speakers on the planet. I’m sure any of you that were there could have listened to him for another 90 or more. An especially amazing moment was sitting next to Martin during the clips and listening to him enjoying them. It was clear he hadn’t seen some of the films for a while. During a particular edit in a scene from ‘The King Of Comedy’ he turned me to me and said ‘Wow’. Indeed! Following the talk I then watched ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ on the big screen for the second time and it remains an electric experience - a brave and bruising epic that is brilliantly made and performed by everyone involved. You simply have to see it on the biggest screen if you can. What a Saturday.
