The Lillian Vernon Corp. became the first business founded by a woman to be publicly traded on an American stock exchange. Today we hosted a donation ceremony to mark the accession of objects from Vernon’s career, including this monogrammed purse, a scrapbook she kept as a young woman, and the yellow Formica kitchen table where it all began.
