‘MAKING OF’ SERIES | JOY+SORROW | MADDER STRIPE

As mentioned in our last instalment of the ‘making of’ series, natural dyeing methods are key to our designing process, where we can add different hues to our clothing without polluting the planet like standard synthetic dyeing methods.

For the madder stripe series we developed a madder silk screen paste rather than a dye bath. The consistency of the paste makes it ideal for screen-printing.

Echoing the pattern design we did for the spiral and broken stripe series we also designed a screen print where stripes seamlessly met with each other, creating a never-ending spiral when sewn into garments.
