We all begin somewhere.

I wanted to share this post because I see a lot of RIGHT vs WRONG exercise technique posts on Instagram. I understand that this RIGHT vs WRONG demonstration is put out there as educational content, often to help assist form and therefore minimise the risk of injury which I am on board with however I think it can sometimes be a little intimidating for beginners. If you’re new to working out, the whole idea of new exercises, or even basic exercises can be a little daunting.

There was a time when I was afraid to perform a squat because of how many people would critique the absolute sh*t out of everyones squat form. It’s easy to forget where you started and it’s easy to make the jump to saying okay now do 20 perfect form push ups, core engaged, elbows tucked but every now and then we have to slow down and realise that encouraging someone to get moving should be the first step.

Move your body in a way that feels good for you. Yes try to follow a correct technique to minimise the likelihood of strain or injury but your movement does not have to look like the polished versions you see on social media. This is not the time to be focusing on all the potential negative elements of your exercise but rather be focusing on establishing a healthy routine that you enjoy. Get moving, stick with it and you will progress. You will continue to build your strength and you will improve your technique. All good things take time, just stick with it. Remember, we all started as beginners.
