Shirakawa Ice Pillars
(Kiso Town)
Water flows down the rocky slopes of Mt. Ontake and is frozen in time by winter’s chill. The resulting curtain of ice is called the Shirakawa Ice Pillars.
The wall of ice can reach widths of 250 meters and heights of over 50 meters—a true natural work of art.
