National treasure Matsumoto Castle dazzles visitors with its striking exterior of black and white.

It is the oldest extant five-story six-floor castle in Japan and has an almost overwhelming presence. 

Its reflection in the mirror-like surface of the moat below is fitting of one of Japan’s national treasures.
