Photo by @annieflanagan / Rae Garringer and friend Jacob Mack-Boll attend the Isom Days Festival in Kentucky. Garringer started an oral history project on the rural queer community. Garringer had no experience with oral history when Country Queers began, but the format’s accessibility attracted them. “[This] project is a story of what happens when you feel like this is so urgent that you just need to do it, even though you don’t have all the tools or a lot of money or a lot of training or a lot of support.”
