Born #OnThisDay in 1841: Pierre-Auguste Renoir, a leader in the development of the Impressionist style. 💐 In his Impressionist works, Renoir employed broad, loose brushstrokes, a bright and warm palette, and focused on everyday people, streets, and surroundings.

While he is best known for his contributions to Impressionism, he explored numerous different painting styles throughout his life, from Renaissance Italian masters to Mediterranean classicism.
