Without memory we are placeless, wandering lost as a person without a place. Where we are wounded is where light seeps in through the cracks. When we are broken is where love has rebuilt us stronger. Every mark on my body is a birth mark, from the burn scar on my thigh, to the old branding on my calf, to the place I slipped and fell and scraped on foot in Hong Kong (where antibacterial cream is only available with a prescription). And let’s not forget the cellulite on my thighs and the folds in the stomach, yes, I’ve that too and no, I’m not covering up or putting my shorts away bc I’m too old now. My body is the book that narrates my life’s journey—read me in the way I move, stand, breathe and be. And see me in my skin, scars and all, and you will feel the presence of a woman who is in love with herself and eager to love and live all of life. _ All bodies are always welcome in all my classes.
