Before his death, he instructed that his remains be buried at a shrine to be erected in Shizuoka. ⛩️ Called Kunozan Toshogu, it was built by Japan’s finest craftsmen and became a model for all other Toshogu shrines. It's said to be the foundation of Shizuoka’s model industry. 🌲 Over the years, the region’s rich forests fostered a wooden model-manufacturing industry. 🌳 But when plastics were introduced to Japan after WWII, many of these skilled artisans switched to the new medium. 🤖 Today, model makers offer their works at Kunozan Toshogu as a sign of respect.
