Dusting off another self-portrait from the archives... I'm pretty sure I snapped this mid-10-day-juice-fast aka one of the more ridiculous things I've done in my life.
And oh gosh.
The RIDICULOUS things I've done.
The things I've said.
The opportunities I've let slip away.
The embarrassments.
The admonishments.
The hurts.
I used to let the memories of every one of my missteps haunt me late at night. I'd toss and remember, turn and remember, throw off a blanket and remember, grab the blanket again and remember.
Now do you wanna know what I do instead? I sit with the feeling for a sec. I feel the memory so miserably and completely, until it's practically tangible, and then I visualize myself hurling it overhand into a river.
This might seem a little....out there. But I swear on all things wonderful, it WORKS.
And the splash might be my favourite part. Because in that one spectacular moment? The grip of that memory loosens, and it's carried away on the current—gone from my body foreverrrr.

What a perfect way to think! I suffer from anxiety and had bad bouts of it recently with all the typical negative thinking in general and about the past even from 15 years ago etc... so I'm gonna try this tip! Thanks 😊

brave an wise, as usual. thank you for sharing. i try to practice something similar once aware of my clingin-to-misery but haven’t reached the splash yet :). though i rutinely try to face things with a let go attitude.

I too suffer from memories taunting me the feeling of entrapment humiliation .. is very familiar to me.. I’m going to try the river a@s make sure my splash is one I love..
