I hit pause on spring today and headed up the mountain with my parents.
They're in the final few days of their west coast adventure, after arriving out here SEVEN WHOLE MONTHS ago. During that time, they've been up to Vancouver Island and down to Southern California, with plenty of visits to this in-between we call home.
I know they're pulling more than their own weight here. I know I'm overdue for a trip back to Toronto... I've let a lot of factors conspire to keep me rooted. (Not especially surprised that autocorrect choked on the word "rooted" and said with a sly smile, "Ummm. Don't you mean rotted?") Of all my shortcomings, the tendency to stagnate sits tallest upon the pile. So many years have passed with only the most mundane of milestones: Oh! Right. That's the year we got the new fridge.
Do we squander potential?
Or do we hoard it?
Does it burn clean?
Or does it bury us in ash?
