Hello, friends. ❤️ A dear voice from my past reminded me how long it’s been since I shared here, so I’m back with a cake and a hi and an “I hope your summer has treated you as sweetly as you deserve.”

This black cocoa and vanilla peppermint cake was inspired by yet another fabulous class from @_leslie_vigil_. I watched it from Vancouver Island, far from my kitchen and all my cakey things. When it was time to return home, I felt the ache I always feel when tearing fresh roots from new soil. But knowing there would be buttercream made the transition a little easier.

Do you have anything to share with me? Instagram is so quiet now. I’ll confess, I don’t even keep the app on my phone anymore. I am much more likely to be on Threads these days, and even there I’m not saying a whole lot. Just reading. Looking. And then going and doing something else. I still take loads of photos, though. All day, every day, forever.
