Bitcoin’s future didn't sound so bright by the end of a panel in Davos.

One top investor in the crypto space even said the price of bitcoin could nosedive to zero.

2018 was a wild year for cryptocurrencies, with over $480 billion of value wiped off the entire market. Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, has many issues including slow transaction times with a high cost.

The panel agreed that the value of tokens will be derived from how useful the underlying protocol is.

One panelist compared the protocol anxiety to sending an email. When sending an email, we don’t normally think about the steps taken to send our message across cyberspace. Currently, investors care a lot about the underlying technology in the crypto space. But you know you're successful once those details are functioning seamlessly.
