Yesterday was a really wonderful Internet day. When I told you about Gracie's oozy, awful wart—which looked an awful lot worse than it actually was when she was soaked neck to elbow in her own blood—you responded with wisdom, kindness, and common sense. There wasn't a judgmental, mean-spirited reply in the bunch, and guys: That's a BIG deal.
Here's the little patient today. A thorough cleaning of the wound with aloe water, plus big bloops of antiseptic ointment, and she's looking a whole lot better. Tomorrow I'm going to start with regular applications of colloidal silver spray (Thanks, @caitmizzi!) and we'll reassess in a few days.
Given Gracie's age, I'm trying to be as proactively conservative as possible with all her health issues. Putting her under anesthesia, treating her with side-effect heavy drugs, or stressing her with invasive procedures just doesn't feel right anymore. Of course we'd do it if she was suffering and the prognosis was good, but none of these decisions are easy, and they're certainly not getting any easier.
I'm grateful for this community of dog lovers that I can turn to for support. Thank you. ?
