Dear my friends all over the world. Please sign this petition in order to stop the construction of a new US marine base being built in Okinawa. Okinawa is a group of small islands located south of JPN which nested its own Ryukyu Kingdom until 140 years ago, and their history is complex with several invasions and pressures from both Japanese and US governments. During WWII they lost more than 100,000 to 200,000 people to US attacks, in which the JPN government used Okinawa and its people like a seawall. After the war, Okinawa became a US territory until 1972, and 25% of their land is still occupied today as US marine bases.Their prefectural gross income is always the lowest compared to all other 46 prefectures in JPN.And now, the JPN government is forcefully building a new US base in Henoko, Okinawa as a result of a secret treaty with the US government. Majority of Okinawan residents are against the construction of the new base, and have elected two governors in the past 4 years who stood firmly against the construction, yet their voices have been ignored. Sadly, the landfill of Oura bay began in late 2018. Who can stop it? (Seems like nobody can) At least you can show your attitude to the White House via this petition platform created by Obama. The US government is obligated to make a response answering to this petition because the required 100K signatures have already been collected (around 180K now). If it exceeds 300K, then it may have a deep impact. If you are over 13 years old, and living on this planet, you can sign it. The campaign ends on Jan 7th, so we have 2 more days. Please let the people of Okinawa know, "You are not alone." Thank you. ↓ https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/stop-landfill-henoko-oura-bay-until-referendum-can-be-held-okinawa
