This adorable creature is an eastern chipmunk photographed at New York State Zoo at Thompson Park. This is a small species, reaching only about 12 in (30 cm) in length including the tail. This particular species has two fewer teeth than other chipmunks and has four toes each on the front legs, but five on the hind legs. The eastern chipmunk lives in deciduous wooded areas and urban parks throughout the eastern United States and southern Canada.
They prefer locations that include rocky areas, brush or log piles, and shrubs to provide cover. @thompsonparkzoo.
