A brilliant yellow Madonna from German contemporary artist Katharina Fritsch’s “Group of Figures” shines in #MoMAGarden, as part of our #ArtistsChoice exhibition curated by Peter Fischli. The artist based the dazzling figure on cheap souvenir figurines sold near church pilgrimage sites in Germany and France, and even produced the Madonna as a small-scale multiple, creating a high-art doppelgänger of the commercial souvenir.
